Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing
What do they do?
The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is a multifaceted regulatory agency charged with protecting the health, safety, and well-being of Iowans.
DIAL staff is responsible for inspecting and licensing or certifying health care providers and suppliers, restaurants and grocery stores, social and charitable gambling operations, and hotels and motels. In addition, DIA staff investigates alleged fraud in Iowa's public assistance programs and conducts contested case hearings to settle disputes between Iowans and various State and local government agencies. What do they do?
The Iowa Economic Development Authority's (IEDA) mission is to strengthen economic and community vitality by building partnerships and leveraging resources to make Iowa the choice for people and business. Through two main divisions – business development and community development – IEDA administers several state and federal programs to meet its goals of assisting individuals, communities and businesses. IEDA works to achieve its mission and goals to benefit Iowans while maintaining a high level of transparency.

What do they do?
The Iowa Finance Authority helps Iowans take life-changing actions every day.

The Iowa Finance Authority also offers programs to assist in community development, including issuing tax-exempt bonds, providing the lowest cost funds for drinking water and wastewater facilities in Iowa and offering Iowa Title Guaranty, which provides guaranteed title to real property in Iowa. The Iowa Agricultural Development Division, of the Iowa Finance Authority, manages the beginning farmer’s tax credit and issues certificates.
Iowa Utilities Board
What do they do?
The Iowa Utilities Board regulates utilities to ensure that reasonably priced, reliable, environmentally responsible, and safe utility services are available to all Iowans. Learn more.
